after having a good morning in the garage i have now hit a brick wall with the drive shafts.
Below is a small pic of the drive flange, measuring 31.5mm from outside of the splines.
Brake disks 2
Next is the end of the drive shaft, measuring 29mm O/D of the splines
Brake dics 1
....and when they are fitted together they do not mate correctly so they spin freely!
Escort wheel
So my question is which one (or both) is wrong and needs replacing. answers on the back of a postcard to.....
Apparently they are sierra bits for a drum brake model.
give me 5mins and ill measure my driveshafts which are dfinately for disk brakes.
yep, 29.5mm. looks like they are for disc brakes what youve got m8.
cheers for that, time for a trip to the scrappy

Chris,
I don't know if painting the splines is a very good idea.
I had a lot of trouble putting mine together clean- let alone a load of paint clogging things up. And God knows how you'd get them apart
again.
Cheers,
James
Best not painted just a tiny drop of Loctite "Stud an Bearing Fit" to take up the slack in the splines --- having said that -------
A couple of months back on the Rover 623 I ecountered a drive flange that wouln't budge from the CV joint spline even with a puller + lots of
heat and a big hammer -- I just wanted it off to put a new stretch CV boot on it in the end I took the whole front corner off and stretched the CV
joint boot over the tripod inner joint using the cone --- arrgh !!!!!!!
