Tried to get the front wheels of my wife's car but stuck fast (alloy wheels and steel hub - siezed). Tried the kick method, then the hammer
method then an even bigger hammer but no joy still stuck (yes I have taken the wheel nuts off). Can anyone suggest another method. Any help would be
appreciated.
Regards,
Arnie
Probably get flamed but,
Put the nuts in finger tight and drive down the road. You only need to do five foot or so then brake, should free off the wheel.
pretty much as gazza said but if the drive and brake method fails then try drive and turn!
just undo the nuts a turn each then drive in a circle (or near to it as you can) and you should find they shift then.
That was quick. Thanks guys I will give that a go tomorrow.
Thanks,
Arnie
why not loosen the nuts and get the wife to drive it

you could try a kettle ok boiling water over the wheel first, the alloy should expand quicker etc.
if shes owt like my wife she wouldnt notice

I levered mine off with a big pinch bar behind the wheel, but the driving method sounds MUCH better.
When you put them back on don't forget to put copperslip on the mating faces between steel and alloy they will come straight off next time!

Thanks for the help. Suggestion to loosen wheel nuts then drive/brake worked a treat. Wheels now off.
Thanks,
Arnie
As alreadt suggested put some Copperslip on the mating surfaces, but make sure you clean the hub and the wheel first.
