This has probably been covered before but I've not found anything in previous posts so here goes...
I need some help with the braking system. I'd like to know what fixings I need as I've never tackled brakes before and I'm not sure what to buy. I've
got 25ft of copper/nickle brake pipe 3/16". I've got twin master cylinders (girling type) and a reservoir with two outlets. I've got Cortina front
hubs, Cortina back axle (not Escort I think 'cause it has some form of void bush on the top). I need to know a) what brass fittings do I need to
satisfy the above setup? and b) how do the fixings work for the flexible hose parts i.e. stainless braided type?
Any pointers gratefully received
Hi Andy,
The ford bits will be Metric M10 male fittings at the front hubs and the back axle backplates, not sure about the master cylinder fittings. The
stainless stuff needs to be cut to length and the "nut" part threading on to the hose. the ends are then "frayed," leaving the plastic inner
protruding by about4mm. The main fixing is then placed into the plastic inner and the nut and fitting screwed together until tight. It's not
difficult.
So you would need the M10 ends, the fittings for the M/C (i would suggest taking the stuff to the factors, so they can have a look, sometimes the
size of the fitting is marked on the cylinder)
Possibly a Tee piece for the back axle, as there are two ways of doing the back, as ford did it i.e one flexy, pipe to the nearside, pipe across the
axle to the offside with one bleed nipple. Or my prefered method, flexy to a tee piece one pipe to each side and a bleed nipple on each back
plate(easier to bleed properly)with this you would need two more M10 male ends to go in the tee piece.

Hi Chris,
Thanks for the reply. I've now ordered some bits and pieces so I should be posting some "help me" posts soon
No Problem mate
