Hi there,

Bought a quick rack kit from rally design for the old MK2 rack and Im trying to swap the internals for the new rack and pinion but I cant work out how the cups come off either end of the old rack to expose the balljoints on the steering rods??

They look threaded but the old grips couldnt shift em - there looked like there might be grubscrews too?

Anyone help?

I think you have to drill out a little bit of the pin.

Got the diagram in my Mk2 Escort Haynes book if you want me to scan it, but it will be tomorrow night now.

theres a file called 'Escort Steering Rack Strip Down' which tells you how to take them apart and how to set them back up again.

You need to drill out the locking pin. Then use a punch to slcken the locking ring off, then it will all come apart easily. The end arent done up that tight.
