I thought of doing this, but ford must have put it there for a reason. It is so easy to mod the chassis to make it fit that I didn't want to take the chance ofit breaking - See the thread under this

The best way to do what?

If you do decide to grind any webs off the axle, make sure your M8 is the solo test pilot!

I've got a Capri axle sat in the workshop and getting rid of the webbing would almost certainly make it a lot weaker...

Granted the car weight isn't anywhere near that of a Capri, but still....

ive been advised to leave 10 mm of webing left

Dont do it Lee, there is no need. Think of all the work that you are going to put into the axle, all the bracketry, cleaning, painting etc - and then you crack the case, or the pinion bearings keep banging out because the casting is not stable, or worst case - the pinion breaks loose, takes the prop with it and rips off you left leg at the hip, as well as the lovery car you have just made.

As I said before, give me your email address and I will send you a pdf with all the measurements to alter the chassis
