axle oil change - how?

I think the answer is "with great difficullty"

now the question;
How do you change the oil in the mk 2 escort Timken axle (is that English axle? - diff loads in from the front)?

There is filler plug but no drain plug. I have no idea what debris/s'udge is in it....

forgot to say I will be taking both half-shafts out in order to fit the rear brake assemblies, maybe insert a tube and suck?

Just put it in the shed the wrong way up and it'll empty itself onto your floor via the breather or take the drain out and lie it on its back with a pan under it. I've only ever refilled or topped up as the stuff stinks too much to empty it and leave in the bin. If you're taking the half shafts out stand it on one end.
