I seem to have misplaced an URL for a website that described modifying front struts to be used as uprights. It described cutting the strut tube and
closing it with a steel disc with a bolt welded to the ceter for attaching the wish bone.
Does this ring a bell for anybody?? Can anybody push me in the right direction?
Dave
I have info about how I did it for my Corolla GTS donor at http:www.7builder.com, in the build tips->suspension->front suspension section and I have
some drawings in the "downloads" section.
I know there's a couple of others out there that have done something similar but I can't find the links either - I'm sure they'll speak up.
I will soon put up some pics of the upright Spyder eng make for their elite chasis upgrade, using ford and triumph bits

i was thinkin of getting a threaded insert welded into mine and screwing the bottom balljoint from a 405/406 into that then have the tapered part on the wishbone
MikeP - yours is the site I was looking for. In fact, I have it bookmarked several different ways, but failed to find it, anyway. You know how you
can put something in a safe place so you won't lose it, and never see it again??
thanx

I suspected Dave, I haven't seen too many other strut mods that have the bolt welded to the cap. Your filing system may not be as bad as you think - I was the victim of an apparent extortion attempt where my old domain name was appropriated and turned into a porn site ...
