Is the number stamped on them the size of the bore?
If so does it make much difference if you change the bore size of your master cylinder from 25 to 22.2?

It'll make a huge difference. It'll make your brake pedal move a lot further for the same effort, in other words, the pedal will feel a lot softer
(this is asuming you haven't changed the slave cylinders/callipers).
Swapping master cylinders around is sometimes a handy way of correcting poor pedal ratio, oversized rear brakes and lightly loaded rear axle etc.
Just be carefull when fitting a smaller dia master cylinder, that there is sufficient travel in the pedal/linkage/bore to fully operate the slave
cylinders/callipers.

According to my quick calculations, a 22.2mm bore will give you roughly 25% more travel than a 25mm one.
