upright backing plates
mark_rayfield - 5/3/03 at 03:42 PM

Just about to put the final touches to my uprights - very exciting I'm sure.

They have this backing plate on them and I'm not sure if it's worth having. It's in pretty good nick actually, and just needs a bit of sanding/brushing and painting.

Is it worth the bother? Is it just to keep crap out of the system or does it have some vital duty?

Tyring to save myself some time - but not enough I feel!

Cheers all

I think the general opinion is bin it, it's worthless. The brakes are completely exposed on one side, what difference is it going to make having some wussy bit of metal stuck on the other?

nice one guys - cheers.

Does that then leave the bolt holes free to attach the wingstays?

I was getting a little miffed as to quite where to stick them!

OK - I know that's just waiting for an unfortunate suggestion....

That's what I intend to do as it gives 3 pre tapped holes into something solid and you already have the bolts
