Axle Brackets

Do you think it is OK to weld the brackets on a Capri axle without stripping it first? I need to get the set up right to measure for new trailing arms and need to get the car on its wheels soon so I can move it!

then again i've not actually driven the car yet!

Support it properly or it will bend and work out the best order to do the welds in to avoid local over heating.

I just drained the oil out of mine then put fresh in after, it's not been a problem. You can't really do a sequence of welds as you want a complete run on each side of the bracket. I just tacked each end with it in place then took it off and finished it in an easier position
