Hi,
I have just bought a 4 way piece to incorporate the standard T joint in at the rear of my car and the hydraulic brake switch.
The 4 way is standard m10 thread but the switch has a tapered thread and will wind in for the first 2 turns ok but then becomes stiff.
can anyone tell me what switch i need to fit in my non tapered 4 way joint?
Thanks
I think you will find what you have is correct. It is supposed to become stiff, Thats what seals the joint.
All the best.
Steve
Does it not seal in the conventional manner by pressing against the machined seal seat in the 4 way joint - like the ends of conventional brake pipes
do?
This way its just sealing on the threads only isn't it?
Yes Scarey isnt it, It does work though,Just tighten it holding the 4 way fitting firmly and check it for leakage by firm pressure on the brake pedal.
Sounds more like an oil pressure switch with a 1/8" NPT thread.
mine's the same, works just fine, don't worry.
A lot of the ally 4 pot brake calipers come with taper thread fittings
Forgot to say mine is the same and all parts were supplied by MK.
Steve.
full steam ahead then!
Thanks lads
Mine's the same.
On the recommendation of others here I wrapped some PTFE tape around the threads just to be sure!
Cheers,
James
Just fitted a new switch it did not have a tapered thread , it was 10mm x 1.0 (metric fine) made by Intermotor and came from 'Car Builder Solutions'
