Sierra front and rear wheel bearings??
Winston Todge - 20/4/06 at 12:16 PM

I know this may sound stupid but I can get front wheel bearing kits for £6 and rears are £20!

The race and bearing seems to be the same front to rear... Are they interchangeable?

This is probably a stupid question...

Chris.

are they the same part number on the bearings? (as in the numbers etched onto the bearing and cup)

If so then they "ought" to be interchangeable, which is not something that I knew!

They may well be the same - if it was a non abs car and not an estate teh part numbers are the same front and rear (JL68145/111Z), but if you are talking about a kit you may find the seal is different.

The nut on the rear has a smaller thread than the one on the front if you are buying them in a kit. The ones I bought for my nephew's car had a left and right hand nut in each so you could get away with buying one rear and 3 fronts if they are the same.

Thanks for that guys!

I still might get the rear bearing kit because I won't get the correct seals and maybe not the correct nut... Don't think it's worth the risk if the difference is only about 25 quid.

Thanks again,

Chris.
