I'm confused (no change there, then)...

I have a Sierra steering column that was taken out of its donor a couple of years ago, by someone else.

The aluminium casting that holds the top end of the column has 2 great big holes. Should there be any rubber bushes in there, or am I correct in thinking that it's held by the great big bolts and their matching great big washers?

For ages I thought that there were no washers but now I'm at the stage where I want to bolts things up for good - and doubts are creeping in!

The Haynes manual gives no real clues (no change there either) so if anyone has a proper workshop manual with a good exploded diagram then I'd be grateful. Even a "yes" or "no" would be a help.

I don't want to go up to the local Ford spares emporium and look a complete pillock by asking for something that doesn't exist!

You need 2 large, thick washers from the donor.
I have some photos,. but i haven't put them on the web yet.

Huge bolts is right we made alloy washers/ bushes to reduce size see my photo archive. (bushes to reduce bolt size)

On the donor they are M10, welded to the structure and fastened with nylocks and thick washers. There are no bushes inside the holes, this gives enough adjustability for Ford manufacturer tolerances!!

That's what I thought - I have the big thick washers, plus the correct bolts & locknuts.
