What flexi hoses you lot using?
I almost bought some standard Escort ones but they looked a bit short.
I'm building a standard book chassis with Cortina calipers and Escort axle.
I measured what length I wanted then went to the local factor and told them what length I wanted and what calipers they had to fit. I think they were
from a mk1 Granada. They fit straight into the caliper. Some people use a short length of metal brake pipe and bracket to put the end of the flexible
pipe where they want it to cure any binding or stretching problems.

Make your own!! Goodridge etc is the way to go, and not much more expensive than new rubber hoses.
Buy a length of pipe, and the ends that you need, and just make them to the length you require.

At the motor factors today he had a quick look through the book and suggested some Cortina Mk2 hoses that were much longer than the Escort ones. Are
these the same?

As said, well worth making your own Goodridge hoses you can make them exactly the length you need, and better performance. Takes about 10 mins per hose.

re non swaged ends,i was told this as well so may be some truth in the romour
I called SVA helpdesk a couple of days ago about this. They too quoted the section from the manual, but then said there had been a memo sent out to say that fittings with a sleeve that goes inside the inner tube which are then secured with a seperate nut will be passed. They seemed to think that the type I have fitted which have a inner support tube, olive and screw cover would pass, but suggested I took evidence of the design to the test. I can only think they are not allowing fitting of the type used in high presure oil fittings that secure using barbs and not a seperate nut? They said the fittings must also have the correct presure ratings etc. I'm going to try with what I've got, wish me luck. After paying £30 for the SVA manual you would think you would get updates every 6 months or so for the first year.
I really need to buy mine very soon and was going to get the parts to make them from Rallydesign.Is there anywhere that makes swaged end braided pipes
to length?

zetec, which manufacturer of hose have you fitted? I'm looking at some Earl's hose with seperate fittings any thoughts as to whether this
will pass/are other manufacturers better??
I also heard something about having to cover the braiding on the front hoses because of the surface finish not passing? Any truth in this?

BSR-Aerotek have a range of 'SVA compliant' swaged hoses called Moto-flex which can be fitted with coloured sleeving to protect for the
abrasive braid. Talk to Terry, really helpful.

I thought the following e-mail from Goodridge maybe of interest:-
Thank you for your recent e-mail. The advise which you have been given
regarding your SVA test is correct, you will need to use fittings which are
permanently crimped to the hose, rather than the 'socket & olive' style. We
are able to supply hoses to meet this requirement, indeed if required we can supply hoses to meet the toughest European(TUV) regulations as well,
although the hoses need to be assembled by ourselves here at our head
office. Merlin will be able to order these hoses for you, so if you are able to let them have the fitting type and hose lengths required then
I'msure that they'll be able to help you out.
