Hi Guys

I'm building a locost and would like advise on whether I should fit a brake servo or go without one.

Thanks

No servo

You dont need the servo. The car is light enough and theres no room for the servo.

If your going down the BEC road theres no vacumm to pull the servo.

I also was worried about no servo but these cars are so light they dont need one. if you had one you would be locking up the wheels all the time

Mine has a servo but I disconnected the vacuum feed when I fitted twin carbs. Someone put my mind at rest that this is ok.

should be - the vacuum just helps to feed the brake master cylinders - had one fail in my sierra - and boy was it hard to stop

No. Mine weighs about 800 kgs and I manage without one!

Do not fit a servo.

Servos are extra complication, something else to find room for, more pipes and reduce the vital pedal feed back.

If you have the correct pedal leverage, master cylinders and calipers you will stop with out excessive leg work.

I can lock the wheels up at will without a servo. the pedal is very firm compared with the light clutch of a BEC but the brakes are not as heavy as my old Saxo. You don't need a servo.

Servos don't improve the brakes, they just make the pedal easier to press. As said earlier if your pedal ratio is good it will be fine without power assistance.
