Why are the mountingplates turned by the most manufactures?

I want to make them horizontal like the sierra has normally.

Why not?

Is the calliper normally at 12 o'clock placed by the sierra with discs?

I'm planning to go on drums first then after SVA, when the cash-dip is over, convert it to discs.
