Hi-Spec calipers group buy
Hammerhead - 26/6/06 at 10:23 AM

Does anyone want to do a group buy on Hi-Spec calipers?

Just wondering what sort of discount might be available if we gang up on them!!

U2U me if interested exactly what you want and i will contact them to see what they can do.

All you guys interested please state exactly which calipers or kits you want, e.g disk thicknesses and widths. I can then compile an accurate list of our requirements. Hi-Spec product codes please

ditto, id be interested!

Hammerhead - 26/6/06 at 11:27 AM

I'm looking at a set of sierra replacement handbrake calipers and some Ultralite universal big fronts.

I doubt that all the orders would have to be the same, it just might give us better buying power if we lump the whole order together.

Toady1 - 26/6/06 at 11:31 AM

yep, done group buys with them before and when you belong to a club they are usually willing to knock 10% off for orders over 5-10.

Have Hi-spec managed to sort out their customer service? They have had a terrible reputation in the past, though the products quality was ok.

I need a set to suit Raceleda/MK11 Escort uprights complete with disks.

Why not approach the Kit Car Workshop with the same deal. They are agents for HiSpec and will sort out the customer service side of it. Hi-Spec have an awful reputation dealing with joe public...

P.S. I'd be interested in the sierra rear replacements

As HiSpec's main distributor and fitting centre in the UK, I usually have stock of 260 x 08 UL 4 pots brake conversions for Sierra uprights and can get most popular kits for Mk2 Escort, Sierra and Cortina uprights (and direct derivatives and replacements of these uprights). I'd be happy to negotiate a discount for a group buy of 5 plus brake kits, but the order would have to come through one person as a single bulk order with all specs sorted, to make it worth while. I would also need a 50% up front deposit. HiSpec are WAY behind on production of the handbrake caliper by the way. I have sold 12 plus sets recently and I have a further 10 sets on order now for customers! I am currently selling 4 to 6 front brake kits a week and I collect personally from the HiSpec factory at least every 2 weeks. In fact we sell more brake kits to Kit Car Builders than HiSpec sell direct !!

HiSpec lead time is currently 28 days miniumum, but I can usually ship MOST popular brake kits out in 14 days or less and I'll also go out of my way to make sure you get what you need (or want). I know all about the problems at HiSpec, and they ARE TRYING HARD to sort them out. However, they have recently doubled the size of their production facility and are currently moving machines into the new building, so this has also slowed things down somewhat. Fortunately, the brake kits are excellent - I have been dealing with HiSpec over 8 years now, and although I have a "few" complaints about their service I have had next to no problems with the brake kits themselves.

Hi Martin

So what setup (discs and calipers) would you reccomend for the front of a Rover V8 engined car, to fit Cortina uprights, and how much would that cost?

Cheers
