Steering Wheel Size?
timwest167 - 26/6/06 at 01:13 PM

Just wondered what the general opinion on steering wheel size is? Is a 10 inch wheel too small for a seven? What size is most appropriate?

I know it's probably a comfort thing that varies from person to person, but I can't economically test which is best!

Thanks,

Tim

You will probs be able to find an old thread on thius very same subject. Ive used a 13" wheel. It works well for me but larger than most would opt for. I used it cos it came free with a snap-off kit (got the whole lot out of a car deal with a mate for £0).Otherwise i would have probs looked at 11 or 12" wheels.

i have a 10 on mine, way to small, for me a 12 is the right size

All depends on your rack ratio and weight over the front wheels.
My car is rear engined and I have a 1.25 turn lock to lock rack.
Because my car is light at the front I am using a 280mm wheel.

I have 12" (oooer!) - just about right for me. Can get my knees under it, while still giving enough leverage with my quick rack.

12" is right for me, 13" is ok and 11" is ok but 10" is too small.....so the wife recons!!

this all sounds a bit dodgy!!

I have a 10" caterham wheel. Feels fine and if it's good enough for them...
