Pedal ratios
omega 24 v6 - 1/7/06 at 12:23 PM

I've done a search and no definative answers so here goes.
Does a brake pedal ratio of 3 to 1 work? or will I need to rethink?
Seems dificult to get any more as from the floor to the ball of your foot is only around 230mm so for 5 to 1 it'd need to be nearer 400mm long
Unless I make a raised area in the footwell to raise my feet up.

With floor mounted pedals as you say the size of your foot has a large bearing on the design.

So I got the best pedal ratio I could within the space allowed then chose the MC bores that would give a reasonable foot force. I had to consider, vehicle weight, tyre dia, disc dia etc etc. Fred Phuns Brake Handbook helped.

I'm working with floor mounted pedals which give about 3:1 so I certainly hope they work! In theory it will just mean that pedal pressure will have to be 'assertive'

Cheers mark I'knew you'd pass comment. The thing that's annoying me is that it looks so bloody basic and simple on the car. So why the fcuk can I just not get my head round it. I have started making the brackets etc though. Hope you've had a good holiday. I ain't done much here though too busy working and shopping for my holiday gear. (Why cant I go in my boiler suit and jeans??)

The GTS pedals have a ratio of 5:1 iirc
