Sierra / Granada Diff mounting

Well things are progressing here at Higham Towers, got my diff fitted today.

So I thought I'd pass on my little dodge for fitting the lower mounting, you know, where the Looooonnng bolt is supposed to go.

I didn't fancy using a long stud and I didn't fancy modifying the head of bolts, so I lay underneath and looked and thought. Then it struck me, the slot underneath is about the right width, why not slip a lock nut in and let the sides hold the nut. Tried it but the nut wouldn't quite fit on the bolt. So I very carefully removed/rounded three adjacent corners from the nut.

It worked a treat, the slot is just the right width to hold a lock nut and the bolts fit in from the outside.

I hope this helps some of you.

Yep thought about that but just seemed a lot more work opposed to the nut option.
