capri uprights

As it looks like I will be using a Capri as my donor car what is there between the cortina uprights and the Capri ones.
I can have the option of two Capri’s one that is a 1.6L and a 2.0L, which one is the best for a locost with book chassis.

Hi James,
The Capri has MacPherson strut front suspension. These will be useless for a book-version Locost. A strut has no upper wishbone, as there is on a Cortina (which is why we use them). However, the brake calipers will be useful.

thanks Dick.
Out of the two which one would you go for 2.0l or the 1.6l?

Any other car that that i can get the uprights from?

Surely you can use the same kind of adaptors you need for Sierra uprights? Not sure of the diameter though - might have to have them specially made. They are basically a boss which converts the large diameter hole the strut normally goes through into a small diameter for the top ball joint.

All the manufacturers sell them for around £30 for a 'vanilla' set to £60 for some camber adjustable ones.

I was going to put some pics up on front uprights but already found them on the net. These use sierra bearings but a custom upright. click here to see them the bottom of the page.

It is a chasis from spider engineering for an Elan. The steering rack is a Rover part maybe an option for a 7.

what car is that upright in the pic from then?

so what mods do i need to do to the chassis to fit the Sierra uprights?

if you was going to use a capri as your donor would you use the 7+4 chassis or the one in the book?
sorry for all the questions

Have a look here. There's a pic of an adaptor and of it fitted to a Sierra upright.

I can take a pic of my Luego camber adjustable ones aswell if needed?

that would be a lot of help if you could do that, as i live in peterborough and can just go and pick some up from them.
