Scorpio 2.4 V6 - some doubts...
xico_ze54 - 25/7/06 at 06:08 PM

Hi,

I saw today an old carcasse of a Ford Scorpio 2.4i GL V6, the engine's head was off.

Can we modify the admission from injection to carburetors without much troubles and if yes somebody knows an acceptable and cheep "receipt"?

Other thing: a guy said to me that car can have a LSD differential. Is that true?

I apreciate some answers from the experts

cheers
Amadeu

Don't bother with the engine, if its 2.4 it will be a Cologne V6, not bad if its the 2.9 but still big and heavy.
The 2.4 has no more power than a zetec although a bit more toque, honestly mate, walk away!
Don't know about the diff though, that might be worth swiping
Cheers.

Leaving you to make your own mind up. Yes you can fit carbs to this engine, you will require the inlet manifold, and carb, from the 2.3 Cologne engine, (the 2.4 was called taunus). The power produced is around 125 hp, although changing from the EFI to carbs does, I think, push that up a bit. The main thing with the V6's is the amount of torque that they churn out. Am I biased, well you could say that, but I couldn't possably comment. Whatever you decide to use, it will go like stink. Have fun. Regards Ray

really heavy and not powerful engine, but then they keep on going forever, will never break down, you can overheat then till they seize solid and as soon as they cool down they are fine again (from experience!!) totally bulletproof engines, not ideal for a locost, but great sound and nice for long legged cruising!
