Use of loctite type product for wishbone metalastik bushes?
gregf27 - 8/9/06 at 07:45 PM

I have finally managed to obtain some metalastic bushes for my replacement front lower wishbones on the F27,
(long story that involved a crash!)
it has been recommended to me to use a loctite type product when fitting them to the wishbone sleeves,
any body else done this ?, and what product would you recommend??

cheers,
Greg

You want a retainer such as bearing retainer. There are different grades, unfortunatly I only know 638 which is high strength and would need heat to get out the bush.

Cromwell Tools sell it. They have branchs all over the country. Otherwise your local fastener supplier or tool shop.

Ebay may also have some.

IIRC the bushes are an interference fit (mine needed pressing) so you should not need loctite. If you want to make it easier to press them out next time use some Copperslip grease. Better still turn some bushes out of Nylon or Nylatron.
