Anybody any idea?
Been told that one of the sierra diff bolts is 'very long' anybody know if its 270mm +?
Cheers
M12 stud bar ?
What do ya need it for? If to hold diff in place i used 2 lengths of M12 threaded bar.

Will do it.
But to be honest I used two shorter bolts to mount it rather than one massive one.

I bought the proper ones from ford. Not a huge amount of money - not nasty threaded bar.
Cheers

Its for part of my rear upright setup, not for the diff, just heard that the one used on the diff is long, hopefully long enough for my application - just don't know how long it is. I could use threaded bar, but have little clearance to the wheel, and would have problem tightening it, without 'pulling' too much of the threaded bar trough the nut. So really could do with a bolt.
Mark,
Why's threaded bar nasty ? Did you have a bad experience as a child
I may have a spare set of bolts at home, will have to check tonight though.

Aha!
I have had this very type of problem in the past with front inner wishbone bolts.
Normal threaded bar is a no-no as it is usually pretty much just mild steel.
What you want is a length of 12mm diameter EN24T bright steel bar (or 817M40 high tensile bright bar in Europe)
just cut it to length and thread it in the right places, then use a pair of 1/2 nuts at one end and a nyloc at the other.....job done.
EN24T is around 900N/sq mm tensile which is stronger than 8.8 class bolts. (these being around 880 surprisingly enough!)

I don't think you'll have any ill effects by clamping the diff with M12, which was what I thought the original question was.
But to accuse me of being a bodger, you b*stard !
Are you going to Donny, I'll bring the pistols

Hi Rayroni
Haven't used these yet but might be worth checking out, they seem to do some weird and wonderful sizes!

Mart.
You can get high tensile studding, also the longer nuts to go with it.

I got my diff bolts from Namrick - they didn't seem fazed by the length and delivered next day. They may have longer ones for your wishbones
