Sierra Rear Disc Calipers - Fitting
birdii - 13/9/06 at 01:13 PM

Ok, bit of a daft question now but here goes:

Which way around do the rear calipers fit? Does the handbrake cable enter from the front or rear of the caliper?

I can't remember taking any notice of this when i removed them from the XR4x4, silly boy!
Thanks

Have a look at Hellfires website

here

I think there are a couple of pics which show what you need

Mine are fitted with the bleed nipple facing down and with the handbrake cable facing the front of the car. They are a pain in the arse to bleed.

Tip. Ony press the brake pedal with the pad and disc between the caliper. Otherwise the self adjust mechanism winds the piston all the way out.

That sounds like you have them on the wrong side of the car as most bleed nipples in my experience are at the top of the calliper.

Nope, he's right, my bleed nipples are on the bottom too.

With my uprights, the handbrake cable would touch the ground if mounted on the other side. Im sure that there must be a way of mounting them so that the cable faces backwards but the rear uprights would need to be changed.

Mine are at the bottom too.

That's how they are mounted on the MNR, The best way I found to bleed them was to take them off, and bleed them with the nipple up. Making sure you have a spacer between the pads....
