Hello All,
Looking at possibilites for my front suspension and planning for the future....
The plan would be to use 4130 Chromoly round bar (5/8" diameter) with flat stock arms welded to the ends. See pic.
If the ends were tig welded slowly with careful attention paid to minimizing the spread of heat thru the bar, would heat treating be necessary?
Were not talking about alot of force or deflection so I would think perhaps not...

I remember seeing somewhere (PPC mag fury racer?) that a guy made his own anti rollbars in a similar fashion but the flats instead of being welded on were attached with thread at each end meaning that turning the flats small amounts you could tune in the required amount of deflection on the flats.
pick some CDS , 5mm flat and weld it together with MIG .
ive made my own on my volvo - and had no signs of cracking in 2 yrs usage .
we used to make them like that at darrian cars - , but , we welded an outer tube on the flat bar then drilledan 8mm hole through the outer and the
bar , then bolted and welded .
