Cleaning diff I.D. tags QUICKLY.
TimC - 20/10/06 at 05:58 AM

Hi

I've been offered a choice of Sierra diffs by a guy I know.

For reasons that are too boring to go into, I need to choose quickly once I arrive at his site.

Can anyone give me any advise on how best to clean the tags so I can read the code?

Clean the tag with a piece of emery cloth this should make the digits more visible.

Baby Wipes....

You may laugh, but a product that can remove welded on cr&p from a babys bum is also very good for removing oil, grease, toner etc etc

The baby wipes smell nice too, So watch out you dont end up smelling like a Shirley, especially in a srapyard.

Tim, carb cleaner or petrol and some fine emery (or scotchbrite saucepan cleaning pads) if it's still a bit iffy....

Bags me first dibs if you find a couple of 3.14 diffs....

Cheers, Rich.
