was there a rear wheel drive fiesta? (I know early ones had crossflow engine but were fwd ro not?)

all fwd, but plenty of RWD converted ones.

I bought a prop and a load of other bits from a bloke near me with a rolled RWD fiesta when I was building my RWD Pug 205

Nat,

Do you have any info and/or photos of the RWD 205 project?

My next project will be 205 based and I'm currently researching the possibility of a 4WD Mi16 based car using the drivetrain/suspension components from a 405 4x4 Mi16. The front end of the connversion is obviously tried and tested for the 205 and modifying the floor pan to take the propshaft isn't too difficult, but it's whether to tryand use the 405 rear beam+diff+shafts etc or whether to fabricate a space frame and go for a double wishbone set up or not.

Cheers
Nick

The Mk1 & 2 were RWD. Just as well or there wouldn't be so many locosts trundling around with Escort engines and axles!

All the later Escorts were FWD. The Cosworth Escort was 4WD, but was based on a Sierra so not really an Escort. Lost of FWD Escorts have been converted, Gartrac were quite famous for their conversions.

The Mk5 Escorts had Zetecs in them from 1991, but the Zetec was never used in a RWD configuration from the factory AFAIK.

They aren't too hard to use in a Locost though, they bolt up to a Type9 or MT75 box and it's a common enough conversion.
