Just replaced the rear disk pads on my fathers VW caravelle...was shocked to see that the metal pad carriers had been rubbing on the disks ....I guess
he has got his moneys worth out of the pads
The weird thing was...there is an ABS sensor on the drivers side but not on the other.... ( I assume it was ABS...small block thing glued to the top
of one of the pads with two wires comming from it??!??)
Why is there only one sensor at the back?
Hmm.....I guess it doesnt work too well or it would have pointed out that there is no pad left...
I have had to leave that nearly gone pad on the car because I didnt have a new one with wires on it...
Can I just remove the wires and stick a normal pad in there?
Did the wires plug into anywhere?
If not pad wear indication isn't present on the vehicle. In that scenario, simply snip the wires off new pads before installing them
The old pads are plugged into the car...but this only happens on the drivers side....
The new pads dont have the wires on...
If he's not been looking at the dash and seeing a light on, I don't think it'll matter much! PS, if the light didn't work before I wouldn't worry at all.
obviously he rely's on the mk1 pad wear indicator.
" I've got a funny noise when I put my brakes on, what do you think it is?"
