Hi,
Looking at the pictures of people’s cars, I’m seeing a lot master cylinders with the piston ends exposed. I’ve suffered in the past from dirt, grit
infact getting inside the cylinder bore due to me not fitting a boot over the end (pure laziness on my part not to fit). Off course the ford cylinders
never had a boot on them since they sat on the vacuum boost and were sealed to that. Fortunately the VW Beetle cylinder dust boot will fit over most
types cylinder and is around a fiver to buy, just type vw beetle parts to get suppliers. Attached is a picture off what it looks like on a cylinder.
Hopefully this is of some help…
Scott.
