I am making my lower bones and have come accross a problem. I have bent the balljoint plate to match the balljoint, but cannot see how this plate can
be welded parallel to the arms without having the front edge sticking up above the reinforcing plate - or have I got it wrong again!!
The image should let you see what I mean

You want a flat plate on the top of the tubes to mount the shock bracket on and the end with the 2 holes in should be level, i.e. parallel to your
jig. you should then be able to weld the back of your balljoint mounting to the front of the plate andto the tubes to strengthen it. I put a piece of
tube between the two wishbone tubes under the shock mount as well just in case.
yours, Pete.
Thanks for the reply, Pete..
But the problem is that with the balljoint plate parellel, the upper end will be 10mm above the reinforcement plate which carries the damper
bracket.
The diagram in the book (that bloody book again!) looks fine except that the dimensions for the BJ plate are nothing like real life.
I am contemplating..
1, Cutting the BJ plate shorter to reduce the height.
2, Bending the ends of the wishbone tubes down to lower the BJ plate.
3, Angling the BJ plate upwards at the outer end to reduce the height at the outer end.
4, A combination of all of the above
...unless someone has the "Ah, why didn't I think of that" solution
Mark
PS No BJ jokes!!!!!!!!!!
how about using Maxi balljoints? Only two holes to worry about then.....

Hi Mark
I made mine also, I am at work so don't have photo, will add l8r.
Basically, once you add the top plate onto your wishbones, the plate for your ballljoint WILL stick proud. You can simply weld top plate to this.
Mines are complete and all works fine.
So... you have done nothing wrong.. or we both have

Mine was the same also, I just welded a bit of 3mm plate in to fill the gap.It is just another book discrepancy.
