I was wondering how the wire wheels are connected to the Cortina stub axle.
Is it a special hub or a bolt on adapter?
I would like to fit wires to my locost.
Anyone got any links to possible suppliers?
Thanks.
Can't help with suppliers but i do know that Pilgrim produced a Ford based (cortina/Granada) Cobra repliva - some of their earlier publicity
showed wire wheels. i believe they were bolt-on ones.
it might be that pilgrim could help you [01273 493860] or if they can't, try contacting Den Tanner (the previous owner) - kitcarman@ntlworld.com
I built an Arkley kit many moons ago and it had Mangels bolt on wire wheels. The other option is to get hubs that are fitted with splines so that you can use "proper" wire wheels, as per MG Triumph etc. HTH
If you havn't yet passed SVA, don't fit knock on's, as you will fail. They dont like the big spinners. Best to get through the test with standard wheels, and then think about fitting wires. IMHO Ray.
oh by the way wire wheels are the biggest pain in the arse. Take forever to clean and are so flimsy you'll be forever pulling them back into
shape after every pothole you hit. They'll even get twisted from some types of speed bump. Had a set on the Falcon and was glad to see the back
off them.
Watch for worn splines on any second hand hubs. Nice idea but hopeless in reality.
