they are not metric fine or coarse,i was told they were unf,not that either or the unf bolts i bought arnt unf?
i tried them against some seat belt bolts and they are different threads.

Oh dear, if you don't have them your in trouble.
Ford don't stock them anymore and nobody else makes them. I think they are unf but you need screws, and there are only bolts available with the
correct thread.
Get yourself down to the scrap yard and take some off a Sierra. QUICK!!
I think in general there are two pitches with UNF, 12 Teeth Per Inch (TPI) and 16 TPI.
Even if you have UNF they still might not be correct, thank goodness we are now nearly all metric when you add in BSF etc .... it becomes a
minefield

or the other thing you could do is buy some bolts of the correct standard new, there must be somewhere local should stock the right spec in metric

Namrick's table of UNF tpi spanner sized etc is here:

They stock set screws in UNF in high tensile S grades (equivalent to 8.8)

But without knowing the size/length I don't know if they have what you need.
If you can't find any of the old bolts, just drill and tap some new ones?
burtons do them,they say m10x1......ive tried that already and it wont go in,the 3/8 unf is loose in the threads .
drill and tap is out of the q,its axle out and thats a major job
IS there any one local who is into old fords that may know/ have some lying about?
drive flange bolts of anything will do im sure, even standard bolts if you not planning on doing any hard driveing
ive ordered them from burtons,is there such a thing as a finer than 1mm pitch?
anyhow i got my digidash to play with so at least i,m semi-happy

Hi they are deinetly metric and NOT unf.
They are the same thread as the cvh/zetec flywheel bolts.
Many people mistakingly fit unf and f##k up the thread meanig the flange is not safe to use again.

I have a feeling you may be lucky 
The front loader engish is definatley UNF bolts though.
Not that that helps in any way, but I feel better for sharing it.
