Shock mounting bracket width
ecosse - 21/2/07 at 12:24 PM

As per subject, I don't have my shocks yet, but want to get the brackets mounted to the chassis for them (not standard "U" type mounts).
So, how wide do I make the brackets, i.e. is 20mm enough for your average GAZ, AVO, spax etc, shock mounting?

I would hate to weld these in place to find out they are too tight for the shocks
but I don't want to have to use loads of spacers to install them either.

So if anyone could measure theirs for me that would be great

Cheers

Alex

Across the bush my Gaz is 35mm so 20mm will not be enough.

35mm glad i asked now, i'll aim at 40mm to be safe then.

Thanks

Alex,

AVO specify 1 1/4" (31.75mm) for poly bushes and 16mm for sperical bearings.

Cheers John,
I reckon I'll make them 40mm and then just make spacers to suit whatever shocks I end up buying
