Sierra CV swap
Minicooper - 26/2/07 at 04:57 PM

Hello all,
Because of the arse I'm making fitting a Sierra disk braked hubs to the back of my mini, I have overlooked the bottom link of the de dion getting in the way of the lobro joint fitting, will the drum braked tripod cv's fit the lobro disk braked hub, I know these are smaller in diameter and will maybe clear

Cheers
David

Just measured my push ins, theyr'e about 74mm o/d, IIRC they fit into lobro bearings ok. But be careful as there are some smaller push ins which wont fit.

OK, dumb question on my part: Will the de dion go on "upside down" compared to how it is now. It looks like it may give you more space.

Hello Simon,
Turning it upside down will just transfer the problem to what would become the top link

I did post a reply yesterday but it appears to have been deleted. Is there any benefit to haveing the ABS teeth and some of the meat on the joint machined off, thats what i,ve done with mine anyway.

Just to let people know, Sierra drum braked tripod CV's do not fit the disk braked rear hubs, despite what some people say, they are completly different where they fit into the bearing
