Just for calculating a delivery charge does anyone know off the top of their head what a std sierrra propshaft weighs ?
On a similar vein has anyone thought about getting a lightweight (carbon fibre, ally) prop made for a BEC to reduce rotating mass further. Or would
this make driveline harshness and pulling over worse as there is bugger all rotating mass in them as it is (no flywheel etc)?
Rotating masses being "worth" approx 3x that of static ones etc...
I'll stick mine on the scales this afternoon when I get in from work marra.

I am considering using carbon shaft at some point (one might follow me home from work one day). Driveshafts could also be carbon. A BEC has relatively little torque, so as long as I do my calcs correctly, it should be safe and reliable. If it did fail I would imagine it would do less damage too. From a quick calc I figured it would weigh around 2kg plus U/Js etc. The biggest problem comes with joining the shaft to the splined ends I would think...
They weigh 11 1/2 KG, just picked mine up from the scrappie ,£20 .

Just had a read of the original post again,I quoted weight of my modified prop,the standard prop will weigh a bit more as roadrunner has pointed out.
