sierra uprights
ned - 28/7/03 at 10:12 AM

I noticed this weekend when stripping my sierra that the uprights i stripped are different to the ones i already have!

The darker ones are from my 'd' reg donor, the other ones were bought and are from unknown model/age car (will try and find out though!)

here are a couple of pics:

does anyone have any info on the differences/reasons? they're obviously different castings, but i can't see a reason for it unless it's strength related. i'm not bothered as the kit will be lighter than a sierra anyway.

Ned.

I dont think its worth worrying about, one is older than the other thats all.

Anyhow when you exchange hubs and rack at MK's you will get whats on the shelf in return, thats unless you have a love affair with the ones you have and want to hang around for yours to be bored for maxi bottom B/J's

I don't think MK exchange the hubs anymore. When I collected my chassis last month they just modified the hub to accept the new ball joint by way of a tapered bit.

Yeah, don't worry. They change their designs from time to time... if there was anything wrong, they would of recalled them !!!

I fitted Sierra hubs to mine, made the insert for the top joint and redrilled the taper on the bottom. The only thing I noticed, was because of having the escort mk1 rack, the balljoints don't fit on the sierra hubs... the holes too big. So i persume I'm gonna have to fit sierra track rod ends instead ?!?!?
