What is the opinion of a tow bar on a seven type ? Ideas and rough design considerations appreciated.Might as well have an anchor both ends!!!
Would add this is only 3 X 3 camping trailer so no real weight
You'll have to make a trailer that looks like the back end of a seven.

On the way back from Stoneleigh last year I saw a RH pulling a trailer tent!
my worry is the light weight of the rear being pushed sideways by the trailer on braking
Designed one for ours.. Not a permanent feature, but removable. Two 3mm box sections welded to back, a frame made from smaller box section fits inside
this (i.e making a U) secured with 4 12mm pins and R-clips. The hitch will be attached to the midle of the U.
Needed to add a few bit's of re-enforcing to the back of the car (there is little to attach it too on an IRS designed chassis). For a live axle
it should be much easyer...
Just make sure you don't tow above 80% of the 7's weight..
One possible problem is that the the tow bar may need to be type approved (this is the case for any tow bar fitted on a car bulit from 1994 onwards).
I guess if it is there durring the SVA this should not be a problem.

Caravan towing guidelines suggest that a Braked trailer should not exceed 85% of the weight of the car.
If it is unbraked then I would have thought it should be rather less than that

Thanks guys,with all these changes in rubbish collection,need to go to the tip more regularly to stop the place getting junked up too much,trouble is i usually come back with more than i took!!

Lateral thinking says put a towbar on the van:- a) it will avoid all those parking knocks and b) will be useful for towing broken down 7's home.

Funnily Enough, I am developing a towbar for mine in work (I work for Witter Towbars in Deeside) and am looking at a removable bar - not in work time

Still early days, but quite fancy a jetski - of course would not be type approved, which means anyone can knock one together and use it on the road,
but depending on the success, I could develop it further
im sure that Ian Pearson on here did it with his, im not sure if its gone through SVA yet though. i u2u'd him about it cos im planning to do it so id drop him a u2u- he emailed me some pices of his but i seem to have lost them...
On the way to LeMans last year there was a gold anodised Robin Hood with matching trailer on the ferry with us.

You must be kidding, that caravan has got to be much much more weight that even a RH! Looks to be like on of thoughs journays you will only ever do
once! Might be o.k. with a micro caravan (teardrop) or trailer tent..

Years ago (20+) a caravan manufacturer made a caravan light enought to be
towed by a Mini.
A RH and a Mini are probably similar weight.
