Escort Mk2 steering rack Vs Sierra Steering Rack
novacaine - 30/4/07 at 08:09 PM

ive had a search through posts and broused through picture archives and cant find any pics....

at the college where im taking a car mechanics course there is an old ford steering rack being thrown out in a few weeks, does anybody have any pics of Escort MK2 and sierra steering racks, the Rack in college doesnt have power steering etc and it looks a little like an escort version but it seems unlikely that they would have parts off a MK2 ..... so i though maybe a sierra....does the new haynes roadster use a sierra rack?
If it is useable i might ask to take it instead of them throwing it in a skip

cheers

Matt

Always take something if its free!!!
You can always figure out what it is and how you can use it later

sierra racks have bolt holes through them one either side could be a capri rack they look like escort racks ie they both have spaces for sadels to mount them the difference is the capri has a long extension about 6" for the column to mount onto

There are a couple of pictures of my Sierra rack in my photo archive, labelled, somewhat unimaginatively, " Sierra rack "

Oh sod it. Why does this NEVER work for me ?

Life is too short and it's getting shorter.

At last !! Sorry it's a bit big, not going through that again

Take it anyway, you can chop it in against a reconditioned one. I found an unknown rack in a skip and swapped it for a MK2 Escort one at the local parts shop. It cost me
£23.
