In true locost fashion I have fond some good wheels at an attractive price. Only problem is that being off a caterham they are offset et19. Standard offset for my running gear is et38.

Am i going to have any problems if i use these wheels?

From drawing it out all I can see is that it will make the track of the car slightly wider, which can't be a bad thing, so long as the wheels are within the arches?!

Itis only 19mm difference each side, therefor 38mm wider track; is this enough to alter the load on the wheel bearing enough to cause any premautre failure? I can't see it would be but am just after some reassurance...

Can't be any worse than having 19mm wheel spacers can it?
I have 25mm spacers, and Jasper is going to use 50mm wheel spacers!!!

So he'll be able to give you a real world answer sometime soon!!

It may affect the bearing life, but probably not enough to cause a major worry. Bearing life calculations are quite complex, the main thing being that life is reduced by factors much higher than increases in loading - but remember that the locost will weigh a lot less than the sierra so this will help to counter the increased offset.

Not the opinion of an expert, but I used to work for a bearing manufacturer so have some experience of this - I am sure I could dig out the bearing life calculation formula if anyone wanted it!
