hello fellas
i am trying to sort out the brakes on my mk locost at the mo and need to decide on the rear brakes
the chap i bought the car off had intended on putting rear disk brakes on and therefore had already sourced the rear disks and calipers
the rear axle is a capri 3.77:1 ratio (any one know what capri this may be from?)
what i need is the brackets to fit the calipers
i called up a company called caprisport who can sell me these.
however they dont believe it would'nt be worth the hassle of rear brakes as the front cortina brakes wouldnt be strong enough.
capri sport were happy to sell me a kit that would upgrade the front cortina brakes to sierra disks and callipers
so my question is should i forget the idea of rear disks and go for drums
or should i just set the rear up with a brake bias so the rear isnt over braked?
after all i have the callipers and disks ready.
also would anybody be able to tell me what callipers i have here? and would it be possible to make my own brackets?

Looks like you have a pair of Sierra/Granada rear calipers there. Rally Design do kits to convert Ford live axles
to disc brakes, which include the brackets to weld onto the axle casing.
However, you really don't need discs at the back, so stick with drums at the back and the Cortina-type calipers at the front. Don't bother
"upgrading" to Sierra front calipers as many models use a heavy vented disc you just don't need on a Locost. Sell the calipers and
discs to someone who's running a Sierra-based IRS rear like the MK Indy or ST IRS cars.
You'll probably also find it easier to get a proper front/rear bias with a disk/drum setup.

do u know how i get the drums off of the hub?

its off a 3l sierra with IRS, i got a set of them aswell, having adapter brakets made up, to fit to my escort axle.
they are nice, cause they have the little lever on for the handbrake.
Mine came from a 2.0L GLSi sierra,if people are looking for them try MK3 granadas as they nearly all had them and theres more of these in scrappies nowadays.
They look the same as mine off a G reg XR4x4. Ive mounted them to my escort axle by welding some lugs on and putting longer wheel studs on. Im planning on upping the front end braking with some 4pots i got cheap off an RX7 turbo, and making up some similar brackets. Havent got it done yet though so i cant tell you how it worked out.
