Braided flexible brake pipes
David Jenkins - 5/6/02 at 08:30 PM

Over a year ago I saw a 'bargain' - a pair of Cortina flexible brake pipes for the front calipers. Now that I'm in a position to fit them I can see that they are far too long for the job, a bit 'unbendy' and look vulnerable.

At Stoneleigh I saw that several of the Locosts had thin flexibles with stainless braid. This was tie-wrapped to the upper suspension arm. The end result looked very neat, unlikely to get caught when turning the wheel and generally seemed very practical.

Has anyone here done that? If so, how did you go about it, and which hose did you use? I'm particularly interested in the end fittings - whether they went straight into the calipers, or if a 90 degree corner fitting was used.

All help appreciated!

I think I'll need to make my own pipes, hence my interest in fittings, etc. Someone said a while ago that they'd bought the parts at Stoneleigh and good good advice and a good price.

More info would be useful!

cheers,
