how the hell is this suppose to fit correctly! if you look, the alignment between the brake plate and the hub holes are in no way aligned! any suggestions!???? I know I have the bottom wishbones the right way because of the mark on the bottom wisebone to represent the passenger side.

If you have an allen socket with a ball type end that may fit through as it will go into the socket at an angle. If not use a hex bolt instead of cap screws and do it up with a spanner.

thanks for replying, are you saying this alignment, or lack of it is okay? not sure about you but that sounds wrong to me, surely they should align in the first place?!

slave cyl should be at the top or the brake cable wont be at the right angle

I just found the other day with my De Dion axle that the hub carrier (and Brake back plates) holes did not line up with the holes in the axle - two did and the other two didn't . I turned hubcarrier and brake back plate through 180 deg, ending up with the slave at the top as said ^^^ and all now lines up.

I think what Conrod is saying is that the slave cylinder (rusty rectangular hole in your pix ) should be at the top, not at 135 deg as shown

Do avon build up differently?.
I thought that the assembly order was, Hub carrier, Back plate, Hub.

If I'm wrong then please ignore me but it looks like you have the order as, Hub carrier, Hub, Back plate.

Giant, you've got me wondering now - what I did was (starting at the De Dion mount working out is De Dion mount, back plate, hub carrier, hub.
ie back plate is sandwiched between the hub carrier and the De dion mount [plate. Will have to check with Haynes tomorrow.

BTW, what strength should the hub carrier mounting bolts be ?

just thinking about it am I using the right hub? (this is the passenger side)

Forget what I said about the 135 deg then.

But yes, that's what I meant. But I'm using Sierra hubs / backplate. Yours may be different. I'll just shut up for a bit

Hi.

I've found, under a protective layer of dust, the the template I made when I fabricated my uprights.

I match drilled it from a Sierra back plate, and as you can see the holes form a rhombus so it will only go together one way.

The 94mm dim lines up with the slave cylinder.

I don't know if you bought or made your uprights but if I may, I suggest you check these dims against yours.
I take it that all your parts are from, or to fit, a Sierra.

Ignore the tag on the top. This is my shock mounting point.

so the upgright im using on the passenger side looks like its the right one for that side...
i havent shaved the corner off the upright which isnt the problem for now although i'll try and do that next weekend I hope in between donnington..
i'll check my measurements and have a look...
