Will this fit?
goodguydrew - 16/11/07 at 09:29 AM

I am using Pug 205 lower bushes for suspension. 10mm id and 28mm od
I can only find 27.7mm id bush tube material at my local stock holder (33.7 dia with 3mm wall thickness).
Questions:
Is this suitable if heated to expand while fitting the tube?
Can I reasonably file down the metalastic bush case or the bore of the tube?
Thanks.

why not turn down the bushes instead?

Mine were a tad large as well, stuck them in a freezer bag overnight until they are rock hard and made a tool to press them in with a vice, worked a treat, just have to be quick before they thaw!

Just a thought

i know its nto car related but in a similar vein to one of the guys oops forgot his name

ever since ive bene legally allowe dto drink ive drunk in the same pub and whenever there is a fight i help the bouncers break it up or just pick up and take outside the person causing the problem and an one of these nights the police were called and held me and threatened to arrest me for gbh and possibly abh and give me an asbo

for BREAKING UP a fight even with testimony from the bouncers saying i was doing that and they were just about to take me off to the station when the landlord came out and sorted it out

Randon indeed!

Just a thought - if fighting is that regular an occurance that a pub needs bouncers why not find somewhere a bit more relaxing to go for a drink? Either that or get registered as a security oerative (they're not called bouncers anymore) and get paid for sorting it out.

I used seamless 33.7 mm od wall-thickness 2.9

And i pushed them in with some grease under pressure.
The outer diametre off the tube went about 0.2 mm bigger.

So if you could try to get hold off another
bigger od.

I could see a benefit in getting correct tube or boring it a touch to suit a std bush. This will make future sourcing / replacement of bushes easier. Do you know what the tolerance of the wall thickness is? With any luck the actual thickness will be down a touch, although i doubt it will be 0.15mm under nominal.

It could be worth trying the std bush in the std tube before welding up. It may be OK if wall thickness and bushes are on lower end of tolerance. Is there some compliance in the OD of the bush or is this the steel bit?

I agree with Darren above.

You need to consider the replacement issues with these bushes.

Buying standard parts is the way forward. The more custom stuff you have the greater the cost when it comes time to replace due to wear and tear or accident damage.

i posted that in a completely different thread about a guy who had his car broken into and the police didnt do anything about it how it ended up in here i have no idea ROFL

I tried to make the peugeot bush od smaller on a lathe but then it won't slide anymore! Also tried to make the inner diametre off the tube bigger with the same result.

Heating or welding ain't do the trick either.

Just search for the right tube.

Thanks for the advice. I think I will attempt to reduce the dia of the metal bush casing.
I'll post any success or otherwise.
