hi everyone can someone point me in the right direction im fitting my seirra rear shoes back together, going by the haynes manual im missing a top
spring i think that goes across the aduster attatches to the show.
see pic below does it all look ok and where does this top spring go that im missing.
cheers simon
ps both sides are missing this spring
another pic
Should hae a long spring between the two shoes, above the adjuster bar.
adrian
by the looks of it, there should be a spring from the right hand side of the adjuster to the left shoe
Description
how essential it is, i don't know, but it looks a hefty one

one end goes in the hole the yellow spring is in on the right and the other end goes in the squarish hole on the shoe that the self adjuster is in, it goes above the self adjuster. Hope that makes sense. The spring pulls the shoes together at the top and returns the shoes to the normal position once you have come off the brakes
youo will need to twist your head upside down but t his is how it should be, mk2 escort 8 in.
rear brake
look at your first photo; see the serated cylinder and the cam that goes against it? If you are fitting together with new shoes for the first
time, use a block of wood and hammer the cam in - this gives maximum clearance so that
a) you stand a chance of getting the drums on
b) you stand a chance of getting the cable on
Don't like to comment but that spring look well wrong with it being bent around the cylinder - cannot be right. Anyway that rear brake is different from the one he has and the haynes manual book. If the weather brightens up i'll take the wheel off and take a picture of mine
here's the photo
Here's mine before stripping
Edit to say -
But notice the shoes are shaped differently to yours. Mine are off E reg Sierra.
