does anybody know how tight the pinion nut needs to be,or is there a measurement i need to determine how much the crush washer should be

What diff?
Its usually set up with a torque wrench or spring balance and piece of thread on the drive flange, theres some usually info in workshop manuals if you
have a relevant one.

Just had a look in a haynes manual and it states that the pinon bearing nut is maximum of 88lb ft for a 6.5 in crown wheeldiff and 103 lbft for a 7in
crown wheel diff which i assume refers to 7 or 7,5 inch diffs.There is also a seperate nut for the drive flange which is 95 to 110 lbft.
Unfortunately it doesnt go into detail about the crush washer and end float settings as it says refer to your dealer.
I would think that you would set it up until zero end float using a DTI and the nut is below the maximum setting.
If just reassembling using the original parts this should work, otherwise the whole lot will require setting up.
