What front hubs on a Caterham?
Northy - 9/11/03 at 09:34 PM

Hi all,

Does anyone know what front hubs Caterham use? I've got the chace of some Ali hubs, would they be Cortina or equivalent? They've come off a Caterham '95 de dion.

Cheers

Graham,

Not a direct answer, but i do know westfield use an ally cast copy of the cortina hub. they're meant to be a copy of a caterham aren't they?!!!

Ned.

I believe for a long time Caterham used Triumph Spitfire - could be a copy of those.

Caterham have their own bespoke front uprights, and probably hubs, too. They are drilled in two different patterns according to which model of car they're fitted to - the pre-2003 Classic which has an Ital axle and the de-Dion which as the name suggest has a de-Dion axle. Now that live axle supplies have dried up they're all de-Dion at the rear.
Sorry I can't tell you the PCD, but MikeR is right that many of them will have same stud pattern as Spitfire.

they have the same stud pattern as a ford, at least they should do as I've got caterham wheels to fit on my cortina hubs!

You need to know what bearings they use if you are fitting them to Cortina uprights. You should be able to get a bearing to fit if you find the outer and inner dimensions even if they are different to original spec.
