Some of you might have seen my topic in the donor car forum. I'm a Uni student doing a project with a Locost and i've got a few responses
from all around the place now, but I could do with some more.
Can I quickly just ask you firstly if you had difficulty finding the Cortina uprights for your car, and are they getting harder to find or more
expensive?
Secondly, what alternatives to the Cortina/Escort uprights do you recommend or have used yourself.
Sorry if I annoyed anyone who's posted in the other forum to my thread, I wondered if i'd reach another audience here that's all.

Cortina uprights are no way near anything like the Escort ones....btw 
There are enough Cortina Uprights about, when you know where to look and want to pay a bit more
As ive said before on one of the pages: Ive got a set of Cortina Hubs with new bearings ready to fit in them in if anybody is interested. They are

Most people would like them with at least calipers... perhaps thats your problem?!?!?

The NK Indy I'm building uses Sierra front uprights. The Sierra's McPherson strut is replaced with a 'mushroom' shaped insert
which has an offset tapered hole for the top ball joint fitting.
Check the August page of my site www.winchester7.com for some pictures of the hub and insert.
I thin you have the makings of a good project even if the outcome is to design/market an adapter for something like the Sierra hub.

I know a scrappy that had 2 cortinas complete with uprights, just no one seemed bothered as I went back after posting it up a month later and they
were still there. Scrappy is in west sussex...

There's a 1.6 cortina festering in Barkham "scrapheap challenge" scrapyard. it's parked in the side of a row of chopped freight containers, on the right as you go in, down the hill a bit.
Andy Hewing always has Cortina uprights, as do Luego altho I'm not sure if they'll sell them without a kit.
I've also heard Luego will buy uprights if you have any to get rid of!

It's near Reading, on the outskirts of Barkham. where they film scrapheap challenge, I think we mean the same place.

If you can be arsed and have the space, you can pick up a whole Tina for about a ton (Ebay a good start). Sell the rear axle, engine, and get a bit of your money back.
A nice idea, but we have a cortina sitting on stands outside with a 2l pinto and a back axle on it. advertised both, no interest.
admittedly I only advertised on here.. once.. but still.
