I have had my running gear fully attached for about 6 months now and full of bodily fluids ... but I noticed this weekend that the diff has started to leak at the prop, why now..?????????
Can the oil seal be replaced in situ or is it a strip down and diff on bench.

well at least the floor won't rust...

If IRC it's a pest of a job to do as the propshaft hub has to be removed and there all the preload washers in there etc. no way I'd do it lying under the car, 30mins to remove the axle, why struggle?

Oil is cheap. Just keep topping it up every month or so.......unles it's pouring out?

Check it isn't over filled ---- ie check the level while the car is level.

Also check the axle breather is clear.

Definately check the breather.

It's also important to make sure the breather has a tube attached. I didn't initially and my lightweight oil was coming out through the breather and I had to keep on topping it up (I checked for leaks repeatidly and there aren't any and it's gone since adding a pipe on the breather nipple!!!)....

If it's over filled why would it come out by the prop shaft...?

The only time it seems to leak is after the car has moved. if I then clean it up it is dry
