GTS Shock Kit Vs. Mk's Protech Alloy dampers
Staple balls - 28/11/03 at 08:53 AM

as title really.
should i go for the GTS shocks or the protechs on an indy?

unless anyone else knows of something better for under £300 that is

There have been various threads disuccing the pros/cons of adjustable vs fixed rate dampers. These alloy bodied dampers are nice and light, my preference would be the protech adjustables though.

Other shocks for under£300 are the dampertech ones, gaz i believe. Though it is common knowledge that spax/avo/gaz are basically the same units.

I picked up some spax shocks for £100 second hand.

Could we also include Dampertech's Gaz dampers in this discussion. (Currently on offer)

this is all very well and good.

but which are best? i'm tempted to lean towards the GTS's, they look pretty

Staple balls - 28/11/03 at 12:39 PM

it'll have to be ajustable, mainly because i'm a lardarse and i like the fiddle with stuff

ned - 28/11/03 at 12:51 PM

sounds like the protec if you want alloy adjustables or gaz if you don't mind steel ones.

Do you have a link where I can see those protech coilovers? Are the the same dimensions?

i've seen them in the flesh at the donington show, look nicely made and are quite light. I'll probably get some alloy ones eventually once the car ison the road/track!

Hi all,

I haven't read all the threads cos i don't want to get into another slagging match.

I'm out of stock of MK Indy shocks, and, as business is booming in other areas i'm not convinced i shall bother with MK shocks in the future. I had some involvement with the Protecs, and as such would rather people buy them than the Gaz and Avo equivalents. The Protecs internals are a step forward in terms of design than either the Gaz or Avos.

Kind regards,

Darren

Darren,

I am happy that things are going well for you, and equally pleased that you are suggesting other manufacturers products as a good choice. Some manufacturers might try to sell their products regardless. I think this can only be good for your business and the lcost community.

Ned.

This hasn't been discussed much, but the GTS shocks are monotube, making for more efficient and consistent damping than a twintube type.

Are the Protechs monotube as well?
